eco shoe soles

welcome to the next entry this week, I would like to tell you about eco-friendly shoe soles made of chewing gum.

Chewing gum stuck to the sole of your shoe is a terrible thing, but it is quite common. The Dutch company Explicit has just presented its new sneakers, the sole of which is made of recycled rubber removed from sidewalks and streets. Because there is a lot of such waste - in the Netherlands alone, as much as 1.5 million kilograms annually (it is the second most popular "garbage" on the streets, after cigarette butts). Millions of euros are spent just on cleaning them. Not to mention the fact that chewed and thrown away gum takes up to 25 years to decompose.

The environmentally friendly Gumshoe, which is the name of the Explicit product, is available in pink and orange colors strongly associated with chewing gum. The upper of the shoe itself is made of leather. The sole called Gum-Tec contains a mixture of about 20 percent of recycled chewing gum.
